Habitat Restoration Project NSW - The Hollow Project

We're involved in an incredible project in Dunbogan, Australia, that integrates science, environment, education, and community—something with genuine national and even international importance.

The Hollow Project Australia focuses on creating habitats for wildlife by crafting artificial hollows directly inside living trees. Over 300 Australian species depend on tree hollows for nesting, shelter, and breeding, but the challenge is that natural hollows take an exceptionally long time to form—typically over 100 years, and sometimes more than 300 years!

While nest boxes have traditionally been used to tackle this issue, they come with various challenges. This new approach provides a more natural and long-lasting habitat that can potentially grow with the tree for centuries.
